Indonesian Government Guilty of Genocide in 1960s

an international people’s tribunal has found that the Indonesian government was responsible for “genocide” against members and supporters of the country’s Communist Party in 1965 and ’66. The government of General Suharto killed up to a million people after the general deposed his predecessor, President Sukarno. General Suharto was backed by the United States. Speaking to Al Jazeera on Wednesday, the head of the international people’s tribunal at The Hague called on the Indonesian government to apologize and provide compensation for survivors.
